Shortcut Icons for Palm OS

Now Available - you now have the ability to download and install shortcut icons to your Palm OS handheld device. Attached to this answer are the individual .prc files that comprise each of our 15 handheld software databases. These icons are available for Palm OS users and allows you to launch any program directly from your main listing of icons without having to first go into the Lexi-Comp Reader or through Installed Books. Please remember that while within a program you may still link to another database by tapping on the blue hyperlink and selecting the next program you wish to look up that term (for an overview of the linking functionality and all of the other Lexi-Comp features please take a tour at www.lexi.com/tours).

To get started with downloading the individual shortcut icons, please save each .prc file to your desktop. Each shortcut icon requires 10 kb of space on your handheld device. Once the file is downloaded, you may double click upon it to add it to your install tool. Once all of the programs that you wish to create shortcuts for are within your install tool, you may then sync them onto your device. Please note that these shortcut icons do not replace the Lexi-Comp Reader or Lexi-Comp Interact Reader and that these readers are still required to run the programs. You may place the shortcut icons on either the internal memory or memory card, but the Lexi-Comp Reader and Lexi-Comp Interact Reader should always be placed in the internal memory. These shortcut icons simply allow you to access each individual database more quickly from your main listing of icons. Additionally, there are 3 zip files that contain 1) all of the icons for Lexi-Complete 2) all of the icons for Lexi-Clinical Suite and 3) all of the icons for Lexi-Pediatric Suite. You will need to first extract/unzip the file for these three downloads and then double click upon the individual icons to add them to your install tool (these zip files are provided to save you from downloading these icons individually).

The files can be downloaded by scrolling down to the File Attachments area. The file names correspond as follows:

NOTE: If you use Launcher X as an application on your device to help with programs located on your memory card, then you may experience a problem when using the shortcut icons. If this is the case, then you can disable Launcher X and use the shortcut icons without any trouble. Launcher X will cause the device to briefly flash/blink when the shortcut icons are tapped, but then nothing else will occur. Once disabling Launcher X and tapping upon the icons in standard view mode, then the icons will take you directly into the programs as anticipated.
