Java installation trouble
Conflicts can arise with the installation of Java and your Microsoft Windows XP computer. These issues should be resolved with the latest service patch provided by Microsoft (Windows Service Pack 2). The incompatibility deals with the virtual machine client on your Microsoft computer not supporting some of the required Java directories. If you encounter such a problem, then please following the steps below:
1) Uninstall Java Runtime Environment from the add/remove programs of your control panel (accessed through your Start Menu / Settings / Control Panel) on your computer.
2) Now remove the Java folder. Click on My Computer --> C:\ drive --> Program Files. Right click on the Java folder and select Delete.
3) You can then open Microsoft Internet Explorer on your computer and choose Tools from the menu - then select Windows Update. You will 'Scan for Updates'. Then click on the Critical Updates and Service Packs option. You should install and ensure that all critical updates and service packs are installed (this will take some considerable amount of time).
4) After installation, you will reboot your computer. You can then visit www.java.com after reboot and click on the Download Now button at right to download and install the Java software back onto your computer.
5) This should resolve the problem that you were experiencing, however, if you continue to experience difficulties, please contact our support department through the 'E-Mail a Question' option.
