Lexi-CONNECT Installation Instructions for Windows Mobile and Pocket PC

This is a step-by-step process for downloading, installing, and registering Lexi-Comp ON-HAND product(s) on a Pocket PC or Windows Mobile device.

***Prerequisites***

Lexicomp On-Hand software for Pocket PC requires Microsoft ActiveSync for Windows XP and Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you do not have Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center installed on your computer, please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/ to install Microsoft ActiveSync for Windows XP and Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The Lexicomp On-Hand software for Pocket PC requires Lexi-CONNECT to complete the installation. You will need to install Lexi-CONNECT on your computer before following the steps below. Lexi-CONNECT will be used to download and install the Lexicomp software onto your device. The application may be installed using the following link:

***Installation and Activation***

Windows 7 and Windows Vista:

  1. Connect your PDA to your computer and login to Lexi-CONNECT.
  2. Place a check mark next to your database(s) and click TOOLS > REINSTALL READERS.
  3. Please wait for the Lexi-CALC installer window to appear.
  4. Click NEXT three times to start the Lexi-CALC installer.
  5. If prompted to install to the default location, click NO and then choose where to install the software from the drop down menu.
  6. Once the Lexi-CALC Reader has been installed, the Calculations will then prompt you to install (Step two). Follow the same steps as installing the reader.
Installing the Lexi-Comp Reader Files:
  1. Leave your PDA connected to your computer and Lexi-Connect open. Then click on: START > COMPUTER > LOCAL DISK C > USERS > YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME > LEXICONNECT > WINCE.
  2. Double click on the LEXI-COMP READER (Blue Icon).
  3. Click NEXT > INSTALL.
  4. If prompted to install to the default location, click NO and then choose from the drop down menu where to install the software.
  5. If prompted, you may receive a message that reads, "The program is from an unknown publisher. You should install it only if you trust its publisher. Do you want to continue?" Click YES to this message.
  6. The software will then install to the PDA.
  7. Follow steps 2 through 4 for each of the three blue Lexi-Comp Icons which appear in this folder.

  8. Once all of the readers have been installed on your PDA and the download has completed, the "Lexi-CONNECT - Sync Progress" window will appear; the databases will automatically sync to your PDA. Please allow time for the process to finish.
  9. After the last database has transferred, your software will be installed, registered, and ready to use.

Windows XP:

  1. Connect your PDA to your computer and login to Lexi-CONNECT.
  2. Place a check mark next to your database(s) and click TOOLS > REINSTALL READERS.
  3. Up to four files (readers) will prompt you to install them.

    4. 3a. Please wait for the Lexi-CALC installer window to appear. Click NEXT three times to start the Lexi-CALC installer. If prompted to install to the default location, click NO and then choose where to install the software from the drop down menu. Once the Lexi-CALC Reader has been installed, the Calculations will then prompt you to install (Step two). Follow the same steps as installing the reader.
  4. Now, you should have up to three more readers to install (Lexi-Comp Reader, Lexi-Interact, Lexi-Analyze.) Click NEXT and then INSTALL.
  5. If prompted to install to the default location, click NO and then choose from the drop down menu where to install the software.
  6. You may receive a message that reads, "The program is from an unknown publisher. You should install it only if you trust its publisher. Do you want to continue?" Click YES to this message.
  7. Once all of the readers have been installed on your PDA and the download has completed, the "Lexi-CONNECT - Sync Progress" window will appear; the databases will automatically sync to your PDA. Please allow time for the process to finish.
  8. After the last database has transferred, your software will be installed, registered, and ready to use.
