Lexi-CONNECT did not transfer the programs or license keys
Please read this FAQ in its entirety:
Lexi-CONNECT will not update your handheld with incomplete files to avoid corrupt databases and errors. Because of this, you should retry downloading the files by clicking upon the Download Now button. If you still experience difficulties, please make sure to temporarily disable all screen savers, virus protection software, and personal firewalls, then continue. After your downloads are complete, you may re-enable these programs. If you recently downloaded Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, please refer to Lexi-CONNECT and Service Pack 2.
If Lexi-CONNECT did not work in transferring/updating your handheld software files, please check the following:
1. The Readers must be successfully installed for Lexi-CONNECT to run properly. Please click here for instructions on finding and installing the readers. You will follow the steps under "When Lexi-Comp is not currently loaded (e.g. initial installation or re-installation) on the devices". You may also click upon Tools / Reinstall Readers to re-install the readers onto your handheld device. When you next sync, you will be prompted to select HotSync User. Select the HotSync user of your device. By doing this, and letting the sync finish completely, you will have the programs successfully installed to your device.
2. Leave Lexi-CONNECT open and running during the sync process until the sync is fully complete and the files are successfully transferred. Palm OS users will know when the sync is complete when the device indicates that the HotSync is complete. Pocket PC users will know when the sync is complete as the Lexi-Connect transfer/installation dialog is no longer present.
3. Please make sure to check and keep checked those programs that you want to have installed or remain on your handheld device.
4. Please make sure that you are using the latest Palm Desktop (Palm OS users) or Active Sync Software (Pocket PC users). If you do not have the latest version, then please download and install the latest version from your handheld device manufacturer's website.
5. Please ensure that you have enough available memory to appropriately transfer the files on to your device. Palm OS users: this is typically the issue if some but not all of the programs transfer onto your device. Pocket PC users: you will notice this if it seems as though 1 or more files are stuck in a continuous sync loop where it continues to try and install the same programs over and over again. You will need to remove some of the programs or free up more memory. You can also try syncing to a memory card if available by removing the Lexi-Comp programs from your device and reinstalling the readers to the memory card.
6. Palm OS users should do two HotSync operations on the first install of Lexi-CONNECT or whenever reloading Lexi-Comp software without the readers installed. If you tap on the Lexi-Comp On-Hand or Interact On-Hand icon and get a message about 'no database found' then open Lexi-Connect again and sync as this second sync will transfer the databases to your device.
7. Palm OS users should check to ensure that the Lexi-CONNECT conduits are installed by clicking upon TOOLS/OPTIONS/PALMOS within Lexi-CONNECT and then choosing 'Install Conduits'. Nothing noticeable happens, but successful conduit install produces Lexi-Comp Reader and Lexi-Comp Interact in your conduit listing found under the custom option of HotSync Manager.
8. If you are a Mac, Linux, or Solaris computer operating system user, then Lexi-CONNECT will not automatically transfer or license the programs for you. You can use Lexi-CONNECT to automatically download the programs, but you must install and register them separately.
9. Pocket PC users need to make sure that the LexCEMgr.exe is running on your computer. If you have firewalls or have shut down running programs, then this application may not be running. To start this running process again, please navigate to your Tools / Options and look at the file location of your Program tab. Navigate to this location on your computer using My Computer or windows explorer and locate the LexCEMgr.exe within your Lexi-CONNECT folder. Double click upon this to start the running process. Please wait 1-2 minutes and leave Lexi-CONNECT open and running. If you do not see any updates transfer or any activity, then please Reinstall Readers as described in step 1.
10. You must have permissions to the destination path of where Lexi-CONNECT installs. For Windows 98 and 2000 users, Lexi-CONNECT may try to install to the C:\Windows directory. If this is the case, then you should go to Tools / Options within Lexi-CONNECT and click on 'Change' within the Program tab next to the File Location. Please then reset the directory to C:\ and then click Set Download Directory. Click OK and close out of Lexi-CONNECT, then re-enter Lexi-CONNECT and proceed with the update. You should then be able to continue to install the programs onto your device by checkmarking the programs and clicking Download Now.
If you continue to experience problems with receiving your updates, then please go to Tools / Options within the Lexi-CONNECT menu. Note the file destination path. Use the My Computer icon on your computer to navigate to this location and double click within the Lexi-CONNECT folder. Within this folder you will find either a palmos (Palm os users) or wince (Pocket PC users) folder. By clicking into these folders you will find the files that are downloaded from the site. If you go into any folders and see any .tmp files, then you will want to highlight and delete these files. You can then restart Lexi-CONNECT and click upon Download Now to ensure full file downloads.
If Lexi-CONNECT did not work in automatically registering/licensing your handheld products, please check the following:
1) You need to make sure that you are logging into Lexi-CONNECT using the login and password that you purchased your subscription under. If you have any questions about this, please visit http://webstore.lexi.com/support and 'E-Mail a Question' to a support representative to verify the correct login and password.
2) You have the latest readers installed on your device. To make sure that you have the latest readers, launch Lexi-CONNECT. Please make sure that you have the databases that you have subscriptions to checkmarked. (Palm OS Users need to do this underlined step as well; Pocket PC users skip this underlined step of HotSync User selection: click on Tools / Options / Palm OS tab and click on Select HotSync User. Select your device from the list, then click 'OK' again 'OK' to take you out of the Options menu). You will then go again to Tools and select Reinstall Readers. Once you receive the message that new updates will be installed next time you sync, click 'OK' and perform a sync. This should then ensure that your programs are auto-licensed going forward so that you never have to enter license keys in again whether you reinstall, renew, or upgrade your subscription on this device.
3) If you are a Mac, Linux, or Solaris computer user, then auto-licensing will not work for you as we have not yet built the conduits to support these computer operating systems. Auto-licensing will currently work on Windows computer based systems. We will be adding support for Mac at a future time. Your license keys are available at www.lexi.com/keys and if you do not see them listed, then please visit www.lexi.com/register.
4) You may be syncing with a device that does not currently have an available subscription - auto-licensing will only work if you have paid for a subscription. Even though licensing is now automatic, it still only allows 1 device per subscription available. If you have multiple devices that you have Lexi-Comp upon, then you will need to purchase multiple licenses. You can do this at a discount by calling 866-397-3433 and asking for the support department. If you have changed/transferred your subscription to a new device, then please visit http://webstore.lexi.com/support and use the 'E-Mail a Question' option to let us know that you 1) use Lexi-CONNECT and 2) that you would like to transfer your software onto the new device. Please then remove the software from your current device to stay in accordance with our licensing agreement.
5) You may need to close Lexi-CONNECT on your desktop and sync one final time. This will ensure that the license keys gathered from Lexi-Comp's servers during the last sync are transferred onto your device. Future updates require only 1 sync.
If you received a Subscription Error message when running Lexi-CONNECT, then please visit Lexi-CONNECT Subscription Error.
