Fatal Alert : Null Handle : Blank Screen : Memory manager
Fatal Alerts are caused by a number of reasons. The reasons and solutions are listed below in order of most commonly occurring to least:
- Your internal memory available on your handheld device is too low. Even though your handheld may have a memory card, the compressed files still need at least 1.25 MB to open in your internal memory without error.
- On the main screen of your handheld device, tap in the upper left corner on the time to display the drop down menu as shown below:

2. If you are not able to tap on the time to display the menu, simply tap on the menu button in the lower left hand corner as shown below:

3. Tap on 'Info' from the menu selection. If the free space on the Internal/Device memory is lower than 1.3 MB, you will most likely experience a fatal alert. It is recommended that you remove unneeded files to free up the requisite 1.3 MB of memory.
4. You can free up internal memory on your device by deleting programs from the internal memory or moving some applications to the memory card (if applicable). After having 1.3 MB of free memory, the programs should function without any problem. You can access the 'Delete' function through step 1 through 4 above. For step 3 choose 'Delete'. You will want to move programs onto your memory card using the change destination feature of your Palm Desktop Install Tool.
- The Lexi-Comp and Interact readers are installed on both your internal memory and your memory card. Having these files in both locations will confuse the program and cause a fatal alert.
- On your main screen of your handheld, tap in the top left hand corner on the time.
- Tap on Delete.
- Right next to Delete From: Choose your memory card.
- If Lexi-Comp or Interact are listed on this screen, tap and delete both of these readers and click Done.
- To install the new readers to the internal memory, open Lexi-Connect. Click Tools > Reinstall Readers. Select your HotSync username and click OK. If you prefer the manual download, click on the links below.
LexiCompReader.prc LexiCompInteract.prc
6. Save each file to your Desktop. Double click each file to install it into your Quick Install/Install Tool. HotSync the files to your internal memory.
- A file installed onto your handheld device is corrupted or partially downloaded in size.
If you receive a Fatal Alert on a specific drug or drug range (ie, generally those drug names that are further into the alphabet 'r-z'), then most typically you have a corrupted or partially downloaded file. You should check the free internal memory available through the steps above; however, if you have over 1.3 MB of free memory remaining on your internal memory, then the resolution will be found by downloading an updated file from www.lexi.com/downloads. Please use the Lexi-CONNECT option as this application ensures full file downloads.
If downloading manually, please make sure to check that the file size posted at the web site closely approximates to the file size that appears in your install tool or you may also check the file size by doing a 'right click' on the icon that you have downloaded and choose 'Properties'.

To ensure a complete download, please use Lexi-CONNECT or temporarily disable any screen savers, virus protection programs, firewalls, etc that may be blocking the connection and corrupting the file download.
