Cannot sync or transfer programs to PDA
Palm OS:
Connection problems are not a result of your Lexi-Comp software but with the communication between your handheld and desktop computer and/or Palm Desktop Software.
The below suggestions are common issues and in no way represent all the possible solutions. Please be advised that the manufacturer of your Palm OS device is the best resource to determine the exact cause of your connection problem.
Common reasons for having connection problems:
- The HotSync Manager may be inactive. Do you see a red and blue circle with arrows in the lower right corner of your computer screen by your time? If this icon does not appear, then go to your start menu on your computer. Then click on programs, then on Palm Desktop (or Sony Handheld or Handspring, etc.) and click upon HotSync Manager.
-
Click on the HotSync Manager once it appears and make sure Local USB is check marked.
-
Make sure that your handheld is firmly in place with the cradle and that your USB is connected properly to your computer.
-
Do a ‘soft reset’ on your device and try to re-establish the connection. If you are unsure how to soft reset your device, please refer to the link below.

-
If you have not done a HotSync in a long period of time you may try a different USB Port or you may need to reinstall Palm Desktop on your computer.
-
You may have installed a Palm Desktop version that does not include the necessary drivers for your particular device. Only install Palm Desktop Software that is approved for your device and provided by your device manufacturer either via a CD or the device manufacturer’s web site.
-
Restart your computer to see if your connection can be re-established.
