Lexi-Comp ON-DESKTOP Network Client Installation Instructions
Starting the Lexi-Comp ON-DESKTOP Installer
- Insert your Lexi-Comp ON-DESKTOP Installation CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. The installation will automatically begin if your computer’s auto run feature is enabled. You may alternatively start the installation by clicking your Start button, selecting Run, and entering, without quotations, “X:\setup.exe” (where X is the letter of your CD drive).
- The first window to appear is the End User License Agreement. You must read through this document, agree to the terms, and click “OK” in order to proceed with the installation.
- You will be prompted to install either the Server or the Client. Choose the Client installation option. NOTE: You must install the Server first, if you have not already done so. Please use the Server installation document if you have yet to install your server.
- Java must be installed for the application to properly install and run. Your Lexi-Comp ON-DESKTOP CD will install Java for you. You will be prompted to enter the “Server URL”. This is the URL or “Client Install Link” obtained in step 12 of the server installation. Enter the “Server URL” and click “OK”. All necessary software will now install.
- You will be prompted to register your software. You may register a purchased copy through the Internet or by calling the technical support department.
- You may also close this dialogue using the red X in the upper right corner of the window to use the free 30-day trial.
- Choosing the Internet registration method will require you input your Lexi.com login and password. You may click the “Create Account” link if you do not have a login and password. Enter your login, password and Product Key to register your program. Your computer must be connected to the Internet during this step.
- You will be prompted if the activation fails. You may click Back to verify the registration information or click Finish to simply use the program as a free trial for 30 days. You will be notified of a successful installation. Click finish to enter the ON-DESKTOP software.
- Perform the above steps for each client workstation. Once all workstations have the Client installed, update your Server.
- Return to the ON-DESKTOP Server and choose ‘Options’ from the top menu and select ’Update’. Your ON-DESKTOP Server will stop and begin to download current information. Note that this process may take some time depending on the number of necessary updates and the speed of your Internet connection. Please do not disconnect from the internet or close the updating window while performing an update.
