Richard L. Wynn, PhD, is Professor of Pharmacology at the
Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dental School, University of Maryland at
Baltimore. Dr Wynn has served as a dental educator, researcher, and teacher of
dental pharmacology and dental hygiene pharmacology for his entire professional
career. He holds a BS (pharmacy; registered pharmacist, Maryland), an MS
(physiology) and a PhD (pharmacology) from the University of Maryland. Dr Wynn
chaired the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Maryland Dental
School from 1980 to 1995. Previously, he chaired the Department of Oral Biology
at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He has to his credit over
180 publications including original research articles, textbooks, textbook
chapters, monographs, and articles in continuing education journals. He has
given over 300 continuing education seminars to dental professionals in the
U.S., Canada, and Europe. Dr Wynn has been a consultant to the drug industry for
17 years. His research laboratories have contributed to the development of new
analgesics and anesthetics. He is a consultant to the U.S. Pharmacopeia, Dental
Drugs and Products section, a consultant to the Academy of General Dentistry, a
consultant to the American Dental Association, and a former consultant to the
Council on Dental Education, Commission on Accreditation. He is a featured
columnist and his drug review articles, entitled Pharmacology Today, appear
in each issue of General Dentistry, a journal published by the Academy. He is currently
funded by drug industry and government agencies for research on the development of new
drugs. One of his primary interests continues to be keeping dental professionals informed
on all aspects of drug use in dental practice. |
