Francis G. Serio, DMD, MS, MBA
Dr. Francis G. Serio is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontics and Preventive Sciences at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology.
He received his B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University, D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, M.S. and Certificate in Periodontics from the University of Maryland, and M.B.A. from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dr. Serio has been involved in education, research, and international volunteer activities since 1981. He has published 35 journal articles, 4 books, several book chapters, and numerous abstracts. He has lectured throughout the
United States and 6 other countries on various aspects of Periodontics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dr. Serio is the founder of the Dominican Dental Mission Project, a volunteer program that provides dental care to the rural poor of the Dominican Republic. In 1991, the project received the President’s Volunteer Action Award
from President George H.W. Bush and the Daily Points of Light Award from President George W. Bush in 2001. In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Serio maintains a private practice concentrating on the Perio-aesthetic interface.
