Julie Golembiewski, PharmD

Dr Golembiewski received her bachelor's degree in pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has over 20 years of active pharmacy experience, with the majority concentrated in the areas of operating room pharmacy and anesthesiology. She worked in the operating room pharmacy at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, then went on to manage an operating room pharmacy at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE and The University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, MI where she also held a faculty appointment of Clinical Associate Professor in the Clinical Sciences Department at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Currently, Dr Golembiewski is a clinical pharmacist in anesthesia/pain at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago (UIMCC) with a shared appointment in the Departments of Pharmacy Services and Anesthesiology. In addition, she holds the appointments of Clinical Associate Professor in the Departments of Pharmacy Practice and Anesthesiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy and Medicine. At the UIMCC, Dr Golembiewski is a member of several committees including the Surgical Infection Prevention Team, the pharmacy resident research committee, the Medical Staff Committee on the Operating Room, and Graduate Medical Education committee for the Department of Anesthesiology. She is co-coordinator for the UIC Department of Anesthesiology for the Midwest Anesthesia Residents Conference, as well as co-chair of the Perioperative Beta-Blocker Quality Improvement Team. Dr Golembiewski teaches second and third year pharmacy students at the UIC College of Pharmacy and serves as a clerkship preceptor for fourth-year pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.

Dr Golembiewski has published extensively in the areas of anesthesiology and operating room pharmacy and is often invited to speak at professional meetings on topics related to these areas. She is on the editorial advisory board of Anesthesia Today and Pharmacy Practice News, and writes a regular column for the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing. Dr Golembiewski is an active member of the Illinois Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the American Pharmacists Association.
