Andrew J. Donnelly, PharmD, MBA

Dr Donnelly received his Doctor of Pharmacy and Masters of Business Administration degrees from the University of Illinois. He has over 20 years of active pharmacy experience, with the majority concentrated in the areas of operating room pharmacy and anesthesiology. Dr Donnelly is currently Director of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Hospital at Chicago. In addition, he holds the appointment of Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy.

Throughout his years of operating room/anesthesiology pharmacy practice, Dr Donnelly has strived to expand the pharmacist's role in ensuring optimal patient outcome by developing methods to improve drug selection and use in the operating room setting. In recognition of this work, he was named a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FASHP). Dr Donnelly has published extensively in the areas of anesthesiology and operating room pharmacy and is frequently invited to speak at professional meetings on topics related to these areas.

Dr Donnelly is Associate Editor-in-Chief of Anesthesia Today and he serves on the editorial board of the OR Pharmacy Services Bulletin . He is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP); American Pharmacists Association (APhA); Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM); Operating Room Pharmacy Services Association; as well as various state and local pharmacy organizations.
