Dr DeMott is a graduate of the University of Oregon Medical
School (1959). He completed his internship at Madigan General Hospital outside
Tacoma, Washington. After service in the U.S. Air Force as a General Medical
Officer, he completed the pathology residency program at the University of
California San Francisco Medical Center (1967). He was certified in Anatomic and
Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology in 1968.
As a practicing pathologist at Providence Medical Center in
Kansas City, Kansas from 1968-1994, Dr DeMott gave special attention to the
areas of Hematology and Coagulation. He participated in research activities
involving separation of white cells from peripheral blood, measurement of zinc
levels in peripheral blood leukocytes utilizing atomic absorption
spectrophotometry, and separation of neutrophil enzymes by isoelectric focusing.
He was an active contributor to the Providence Medical Center (formerly
Providence-St Margaret Health Center) School of Medical Technology, is a past
president of the Medical Staff of Providence Medical Center, and was chairman or
a member of several of the hospital professional committees, including the
Cancer Committee. He directed the Cancer Conference for many years.
Dr DeMott is a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical
Pathologists and College of American Pathologists, and is a member of the
American Association for Clinical Chemistry, American Medical Association,
Kansas Society of Pathologists, and Kansas City Society of Pathologists. |
